What Is the Initiative

Eleven Marin nonprofits have completed the survey describing their volunteer tutor and mentor opportunities. These constitute the Compendium that enables us to find the volunteer assignment that best meets our individual needs.

The Community’s Mission

We are not a formal 501(c)(3). We're simply a group of caring citizens joining to make a difference for our youth by providing information about where to go to join in the effort.

We know that there are many Marinites who are deeply concerned about the education and well-being of our children. Not just our own children and grandchildren, but all of those living in Marin. We've come together to make it easy to become involved in a truly meaningful way. Becoming a volunteer tutor or mentor impacts students in ways far beyond hours spent in a classroom or meeting a mentee for an afternoon snack.

Download the Compendium or scroll through our Nonprofit Partners offerings and make the connection directly. They're waiting to hear from you. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Once you connect, drop us an email at bob@marinvtmi.org to let us know where you've landed. We want to be able to measure the effectiveness of the Initiative. Feel free to keep us informed about your experience so that we can pass this on to other current and potential volunteers.

Testimonials

Having volunteers in my classroom has been a wonderful experience for my students and I. They get to work with someone from outside of the school setting who brings with them life experiences, skills and a different point of view to the table. Through the support volunteers provide in my classes I have seen improved student behavior, higher test and grade scores, students attending better in class due to 1:1 support.

My volunteer work at Vallecito Elementary is one of the most rewarding parts of my week.  The children and teacher brighten my outlook on life.
