Parent Services Project engages and strengthens families to take leadership for the well-being of their children, families, and communities.

Mission Statement:

Describe the Tutoring or Mentoring Opportunity

Raising a Reader Ambassador program, reading to young children in home daycares and playgroups throughout Marin County. The volunteer would be trained on how to choose an age appropriate book, how to share it in an engaging manner and then how to expand the idea of the story through an activity.

Where does the interaction take place?

The interactions would take place most likely in the AM’s at home daycares and/or playgroups, mainly in San Rafael, Terra Linda, Novato and maybe in Marin City and West Marin (Point Reyes, San Geronimo)

Yes, see the above response, but it also depends on the providers and coordinators, if they would want a volunteer reader to come on a regular basis.

What would you like potential volunteers to know in addition to the above?

That their goal is to bring books to life and create and positive connection with books for the children. We want it to be fun for all because if something is fun, there is a natural motivation to want to continue to do it.
